The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT) is an external, non-invasive manipulation that helps to reposition misplaced reproductive organs and encourage pelvic alignment, improving blood/lymph/nerve/chi flow to and through the abdomen. 2 hour initial appointment includes thorough intake and instruction in self-care abdominal massage.

This unique, holistic system of bodywork was developed by Rosita Arvigo, and an American Napropathic Physician (similar to a Chiropractor, but addressing the ligaments and tendons) after spending 12 years apprenticing in Belize with the well known Maya healer Don Elijio Panti, until his death in 1996 at the age of 103. Through her time with this wise and highly sought after shaman, as well as studies with traditional Belizean midwives, Rosita went on to combine the traditional practices of the indigenous people of Central America with her own training in Western Medical anatomy and physiology, and the result was the creation of this beautiful and powerful modality. Although especially helpful in alleviating disorders of the reproductive and digestive systems through relieving congestion in the abdomen and pelvis, the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are of benefit to all, men and women alike. As Arvigo® Practitioners, we do not cure disease, but assist in restoring the body’s own healing capacities by helping to remove obstructions and deterrents, facilitating the vital flow of fluids and energy to nourish and repair the organs and systems naturally.  Don Elijio believed that the uterus was a woman’s “center“ and that if it is out of balance, she would be physically, emotionally, and spiritually out of balance.
